Lectureship with Rev. Maurice Watson: Proclamation in the Public
Square, January 17-19, 2006
Rev.
Maurice Watson
Pastor, Beulahland Bible Church
Macon, Georgia
Rev. Maurice Watson accepted the call to preach
the gospel at age 16 and was ordained two years later. His first
pastorate was at St. Mark Baptist Church in Little Rock, where
he served for seven years. In Novemeber 1988, he accepted the
call to pastor Salem Baptist Church in Omaha, Nebraska. During
his nearly 16 years at Salem, Pastor Watson impacted the spiritual
life and growth of the Salem family in measurable and immeasurable
ways. As a direct result of his expository preaching, Salem Baptist
Church membership grew from 1,200 to a current membership of
over 4,000.
Pastor Watson now serves as senior pastor of Beulahland
Bible Church in Macon, Georgia. In addition to his pastoral calling,
he has a dynamic itinerant preaching ministry that extends across
the continent and globe. Rev. Watson has been described as one
of the premier preachers of our generation and is well-known
and sought after for his anointed, sound and understandable proclamation
of God’s Word. In an effort to better reach the masses,
he recently founded Maurice Watson Ministries and is now establishing
a television ministry.
His ministry finds him at conferences
teamed with preachers like T.D. Jakes, Ralph West, Paul Morton
and Tony Evans. He has been a plenary speaker at preaching conferences
such as the Hampton University Preachers’ Conference and
the E. K. Bailey Conference in Dallas.
Pastor Watson is motivated
by his love for people, his love for preaching and his belief
that no one is beyond God’s reach. “I
was born–put on the Earth, in the Universe–to
be a preacher, teacher, and pastor of people. Seeing people helped
and seeing people’s
lives transformed through what I might have to say or what God
might have to say through me motivates me. It’s my purpose
for being alive.”
